Thomas Ind is the fourth generation of doctor in his family and consults in the same offices as his father who is a General Practitioner and Occupational Physician. His grandfather and great grandfather practiced medicine together as doctors and general practitioners in Kent. His mother is a ballet teacher and he has two brothers. He is married to Emma and has two children who were born in 1999 and 2002.

He qualified in medicine in 1990 from St Bartholomew's Hospital. He obtained a postgraduate doctoral thesis in 1994 and was admitted to the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) in 1995. He was one of the first gynaecologists in the country to be awarded a level three certificate in laparoscopic surgery by the RCOG in 1999 and was admitted to the sub-specialist register in gynaecological oncology and gynaecology by the GMC in 2001. Thomas Ind was one of the first gynaecological surgeons to be trained in robotic surgery and performed the first robotic lymphadenectomy by a gynaecologist and first hysterectomy in the UK in 2007.

Thomas Ind has written many papers in the field go gynaecological surgery and is currently a consultant at the Royal Marsden & St George's Hospitals. His private robotic surgery is performed at the London Clinic.

In his spare time, he enjoys being with his family and is lucky to have a wife who is culinary wizard and gives a good dinner party. He enjoys listening to music and has a recording studio in his office at home.
